Clinical Update

  • Patient was prescribed a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD). Discharged four days later.
  • Five days post-discharge, patient experienced an episode of VT at a rate of 204 bpm.
  • WCD appropriately detected episode and started broadcasting alarms. Patient was conscious and used response buttons to delay treatment for some time.
  • Patient eventually fell unconscious and WCD delivered a 150J biphasic treatment shock, which converted his VT to bradycardia at 46 bpm.
  • Patient received implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).
